Yellow Nagabrain

I'm not sure of the exact lineage of these gnarly, yellow pods, but I believe they are a cross of an unknown brain strain variant and a Dorset Naga. Regardless of who mommy and daddy are, the Nagabrain is a great looking pepper with excellent flavor. The blistered, brainy appearance of these fairly large peppers just calls to me. I grew out one plant of the Yellow Nagabrain for the 2020 season in a self-watering bucket. It performed well in terms of growth, but probably wasn’t as productive as I would have liked. I think I harvested 35-40 ripe fruit throughout the season. That’s not terrible for a plant that provides pretty sizable fruit with that great blistered look – I can overlook not getting another dozen or so fresh pods.

The flavor is similar to a Scotch Brain with a fruitiness and light floral trait. There isn’t as much sweetness, however. The burn on the Nagabrain is also a bit different as it builds slowly to a full mouth inferno that lasts a good long while. It definitely produced a burn that I enjoyed and look forward to growing again in the future. Read full review.
