The 2022 Peppers Are Now Outside
We’re at a point this season where the overnight lows are more manageable – not great, but we’re looking warmer and warmer as the days progress. That means it’s time for all the plants to head out into the great outdoors.
As with the past few years, I like to temporarily set the plants just to make sure I like the grouping moving forward. The beds will hold a total of 24 plants with the addition of ten 15 gallon pots for the remaining plants. Usually, the beds hold multiples of the same variety, but this year I decided to split a couple of them up. For instance, I’ve got a Lemon Starrburst both in a bed and pot, just to check out the difference between the two through the season.
Each little pepper plant was set into the dirt with a good-sized handful of both bone meal and blood meal. I found that this simple combination worked quite well for the plants last year. I’ll be giving them a solid does of diluted fish emulsion in a couple of days once they have gotten accustomed to the outside environment.
That’s it for now. Just a quick two hour job to get everything off and running for the season. Happy growing!
