Week One of the 2022 Pepper Season
The title above may say “week one”, but it’s actually been a couple days past – nothing had happened seed-wise in the first seven days. It wasn’t until day eight that seeds started to break through the surface, much to my obvious delight.
Much like the tiny seedlings above, we’re going to keep this update on the shorter side with a quick observation and a list of those plants that have arrived. It’s apparent, given the number of days it’s taken for these varieties to show up that sowing them into previously warmed dirt really doesn’t make a difference. So far, we appear to be averaging arrival dates similar to prior years. That all being said, I’ll still probably prepare the pots a day or two before sowing in coming seasons – it just made the planting process much smoother on the big day.
Here is the list of varieties that have had successful germination by the time of this post:
- 7 Pot Cinder
- Aci Civri
- Bahamian Beast Red
- Chiltepin
- Elysium Oxide Scotch Bonnet
- Ghost Yaki Peach
- Helix Nebula
- Jalapeno (Brown)
- Puerto Rican Yellow
- Purple Tiger x Jalapeno
- Sugar Rush Stripey
That’s it for today. Happy gardening!
